Help me give my students a cozy place to sit for whole group meetings, a inviting spot for blocks, toy cars, and puzzles, and a way to ensure these comforting places can stay clean!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
At the height of the pandemic, carpets were removed from most classrooms. Prekindergarten is an age where students have full class discussions while sitting on floor. It is cold and uncomfortable on our hard floors and I feel we are ready to return to utilizing a carpet.
As a teacher, I feel it's important for students to be able to see each other during learning experiences, which is why I chose an arc shape.
This way no student is too far away from the teacher and students can exchange ideas easily with their classmates.
I'd also like a inviting space for our block center, which is used for wooden and cardboard block play, train tracks, wooden cars, and large puzzles. These are activities done on the floor, which is why a carpet would be wonderful for this space, as well.
Lastly, it is important to regularly clean these carpets, which is why I request a carpet cleaner and cleaning solution.
