This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a first-grade teacher at an inner-city school. I am privileged to work with twenty-eight amazing children who are eager to learn and use any learning tools they are given. My students have a tremendous amount of learning to do this upcoming year, and most of it happens from repetition and practice.

They like to read, participate, and ask questions!

Working as an elementary teacher in a low-income and high poverty inner-city district is challenging itself. My students face several challenges, both in and out of the classroom. Whichever challenge they meet, I strive to provide my students with the creative and meaningful learning experience they deserve!

My Project

In my classroom students are really struggling with writing. Parents can not afford the grade appropriate materials required for first grade, especially in writing. In this grade, students need the red, dotted and blue lines that notebooks have so they can practice their handwriting. But sometimes notebooks do not are not enough. Sometimes these white boards are the key ingredients for students to excel. With these white boards, It will also lead to some amazing writing prompts!

Just like reading and math, writing is a vital subject for student learning to become successful!

Right now I only have some print paper and students can't comprehend or write on these types of paper.

If each student had a writing white board of their own, they would be able to better monitor their writing. Sometimes the mechanics of a pencil and paper are not fit for some students. Having a marker, white board with writing lines and an eraser to erase may help by having the appropriate mechanics for students to actually write. In addition, students would have a lot of fun while doing it! Learning is suppose to be fun!

It is my job to help my students achieve their best and with these white boards with writing lines, you can help too!
