My Project

Covid-19 and its consequences have caught up with our district. Many district schools are losing teachers because of decreased enrollments. My building is losing three teachers. However, with change, comes opportunity and I am moving to third grade. Only a fraction of my fifth grade books will be appropriate and I need to build a library of two hundred and fifty titles to support my students' reading needs.

Persuading a third grader that she or he is a reader will have awesome side-effects.

I want my future third graders to discover the joy of a thrilling story, or feel empathy for a character who is different from them. I want next year's class to find themselves surrounded by compelling novels, tales true and completely fabricated. I want my third graders to view themselves as readers.
