This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Ms. Jackson: My students are so bright! Crowd: “How bright are they?”
Ms. Jackson: They are so bright you need shades to see them!
No, really. The students coming to me are so motivated to learn new things, kind and able to take on some pretty amazing academics as well. This school year, each grade level will be departmentalized. As the new math and science classroom to over 40 second graders, I need your help to inspire these highly motivated and high achieving students with challenging and new activities, books, and seating options.
My Project
As our new school continues to grow, each class is presented with a true challenge. This year as the math and science second grade classroom, we will be really immersing ourselves in the world of math and science. With that in mind, we need great help with creating a classroom that facilitates group and individual discovery. Because many of my students are achieving above grade level, we are in need of activities that allow for more challenging tasks which is why many of the materials selected are above 2nd grade. The variety in seating, math and science activities and books can help make this happen. With your help, these activities will allow for independent/ group practice and opportunities to learn important math and science concepts while the teacher is able to work with students in small group instruction. This will truly help build the students’ ability to learn and discover with their peers.
