Wanted: Science Shelf Stockers

Help me give my students great book resources to get them excited about science!

This project expired on June 25, 2020.

My Students

My fifth and sixth grade students are special because we live in a rural area where everyone knows everyone and everyone helps one another when there is a need. Our neighborhood is friendly, but many families are struggling to put food on their tables and provide warm homes during our difficult winters. Many of these young students have to step up to the plate and help their parents take care of younger siblings, cook meals, do laundry, and other chores around the house. One sixth grade girl told me that she has been shoveling snow off roofs to help her family make ends meet. For some kids the only time they get to "be a kid" is at school!

Our neighborhood is a potato farming community, where people work hard!

You never will hear them complain even though some kids have it pretty tough. It is a safe community for the most part, but many families live in poverty.

Please help me make school a special place to come for all students!

My Project

Wanted: science books! Please help stock our shelves with science books! We want more science books for our classroom! We are a class that loves to read, especially about science! Most of our classroom books are outdated and need to be replaced.

Science is continually changing and we need to change with it!

Science books are one of the most importance resources out there to get students interested and excited about the field of science. These books will be used to read for pleasure, classroom lessons, assignments, and for doing research. These books will be a great addition to our classroom for years to come!
