This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are eager to learn and utilize the materials that I have in my classroom. This is my third year teaching 4th grade reading and writing and I can't tell you how many pencils I've bought over the last three years. My students come from homes with hard-working parents that want them to succeed. They are very bright and come ready to learn every day! With that being said, pencils go very quick in 4th grade as we are constantly writing and so much time is wasted finding or sharpening.

My students come to school ready to learn and succeed in reading and writing.

I'd love to have new sharpener to keep on my desk and have pencils sharpened for the next day.

My Project

In our classroom now, you will hear hand-held pencil sharpeners dropping....during instruction. Not only, is this distracting from learning, these pencil sharpeners take forever to get a pencil sharpened...if at all. A heavy-duty pencil sharpener is quick and quiet. I can also have plenty of extra pencils ready quickly.

Please help me help my students.

Most people do not realize the value of a good electric pencil sharpener. It may seem to small to most, but it is so important to help students get class started quickly with little or no distractions for such a minor thing like sharpening a pencil.
