Teacher Professional Development: I need an iPad & professional development books about the art of teaching technology so that I can become more experienced at providing engaging lessons. <profdevpilot>

In 2015 you'd think teaching tech would be easy. Unfortunately, my kids are skilled at texting but sorely lacking in basic computer skills. I want to become more adept at teaching technology in engaging and exciting ways. I want to learn how to teach movie making, podcasting, & other fun activities.
I am a mid career change professional coming from a successful but highly stressful real estate development career.
I always knew that I would be a teacher at some point, but I always imagined high school. It wasn't until I substituted at my current school two years ago that I fell in love with these middle schoolers! When I tell people I teach middle school, most of the time they are in awe. Sometimes they often say "you are so brave". Apparently, teaching kids at that awkward stage elevates mere humans to heroic status. I think one of the reasons I love my school the most is that we are like one big family. Our motto is "our house" and we have a "door of integrity" that everyone walks through each morning. Even though our kids come to school each day, they don't come with a lot of the basic social skills that other kids that age possess. I want to grow as a teacher so I can make every day in my class fun and engaging. I want my kids to be excited to see me and ready to learn!
I teach technology & I thought my students would be much more tech savvy. Most of our families may have tablets and smart phones, but few have a computer at home for writing research papers or making a simple PowerPoint. Unfortunately, many of my kids aren't engaged in learning basic computer skills like using MS Word or Excel. I want to learn how to use an iPad to make movies, podcasts, and other high tech interactive strategies to create much more exciting lessons! I believe that if I use fun, creative, & engaging hands on activities like movie making, then my project based learning environment will be much more successful. My school provides some iPads for the students but I need one to learn how to personally use the various apps & products so that I can teach back to my students. I want to purchase prof Dev books on those topics so I can become an expert. I've also included Kagan books so I can learn cooperative strategies to use because these will be group projects.
I believe that by educating myself on new and exciting methods of incorporating technology into the classroom I will become a much more engaging teacher.
I cannot wait to jump into learning new things so that I can pass this knowledge on to my students. I firmly believe that I can use this new knowledge to light a fire for a love of new learning in my students!
