This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My class is full of students who demonstrate their learning in three different ways: visual, auditory, and kinesthetic. They learn through experience and hands-on activities.

I teach a vivacious group of first graders in a low income neighborhood.

It is an inclusion classroom so there are currently 20 students and 9 of those students fall on the spectrum. Thus, there are students labeled with autism, learning disability, and emotional disability. They can't wait to use the computers in our classroom but they aren't working as well as they used to! They are hard workers, but the learning styles of each of my students require tactile, visual, and auditory experiences. My students need practice and repetition with the many concepts that are part of the learning process. The tablet will provide my students the additional benefits gained from working alone or in partnerships. The tablet will allow each student the opportunity to work at their own individual speed while developing basic skills. My class needs to have a tablet as a learning device that can provide unique and rich learning experiences.

My Project

While I teach small group instruction during reading and math, the students work in partners or independently on previously taught skills. Math games and reading sites are a great way for students to practice these previously taught skills. Since most of them do not have the opportunity to use technology at home they are much more motivated as they get to work on a laptop or other device.

Our world is filled with technology but not everyone has the same access to these materials.
