My Students

The days of chalkboards are over! Our students live in a technology based world and need to face the new and exciting challenges that go with it.

Our K-2 school is in a small town in Texas.

My class is a very active bunch with a lot of curiosity. The lessons must be hands-on as much as possible to keep 5-year-olds attention. We are in a rural area with a 44% economically disadvantage population. Our campus has an English Language Learners population of 12%. Many of our students do not have access to technology outside of the school environment.

My Project

Our class needs an ipad. My students would be able to take Accelerated Reading quizzes to improve comprehension skills. We would be able to access Lexia Core 5, an RTI approved intervention for our struggling readers. Like many other districts, we are in a budget deficit. We are working with the bare essentials in addition to outdated technology. A new ipad would greatly enhance our learning experiences. My students would be able to use up to date reading software that piques their interest and keeps them fully engaged.

This donation would help my students to become more familiar with current computer technology.

I know they will be encouraged with the entertaining activities provided. My students will be having so much fun on a new ipad, that it won't even feel like work!
