Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My third graders are eager to become global citizens and learn about the world around them. These thoughtful, curious, inquisitive young scholars and scientists are hungry for learning. They enjoy creative brain breaks, reading challenging texts, solving real-world math problems, and critical thinking. Above all, they value being kind and being fair. I have never been prouder of a group of students.
We are a Title I public school in eastern Las Vegas full of kind, thoughtful, inquisitive young learners.
Our classroom welcomes a plethora of different types of learners and embraces all.
My Project
I have a large class of 3rd graders that are highly motivated by prizes. I look for things that the kids like and have an interest in, and they work really hard on their reading goals to earn it.
It's better for them to work for something they want, and something they can physically see.
They love things like stickers, little miniatures, and even other books! Anything to motivate those little ones is really appreciated.
I've seen low readers grow and grow from working towards a prize, and they feel good about themselves when they're done because they earned something. It gives it so much more meaning.
