Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

There is much to be said for improving one's mental math skills but the reality is that in this, the 21st century, students must also be able to use calculators to get the job done! I am an eighth grade math and science teacher working at M.S. 201 in the South Bronx where over 95% of students are eligible for free lunch. I would like a class set of scientific calculators (10) for my eighth grade students as there are currently no calculators available in the school building and many students are unable to provide their own. I teach approximately 125 kids, so this resource would go far in terms of its impact! Having access to calculators would allow my students to be better prepared for their exams in the spring and for high school the following fall.
