My Project
The walls of a classroom can do more than display work—they can reflect values. This project will help transform our learning space into a warm, welcoming, and compassion-centered environment through intentional decor. With calming colors, motivational posters, inclusive visuals, and kindness-themed bulletin boards, our classroom will become a place where every student feels seen, safe, and inspired to care for others.
We want to create an environment that gently teaches students—through what they see every day—that empathy, inclusion, and emotional well-being matter just as much as academics.
Decor will include thought-provoking visuals, such as posters showing diverse families, inclusive messages, quotes about empathy, and visual prompts that encourage students to think: How might someone else feel right now? These daily reminders will spark class conversations and help students build perspective and social awareness in age-appropriate ways.
Our kindness-themed bulletin boards will feature rotating “Compassion Challenges,” encouraging students to take small, meaningful actions—like writing notes to a lonely peer, offering to help someone who’s struggling, or inviting someone new to join a group. We’ll also feature a “Kindness Wall” where students can celebrate acts of care they’ve seen in the classroom.
Success will be measured through reflection activities, kindness logs, and classroom observations. Students will journal about what they learn from the visuals around them and how it influences their behavior. I’ll track increased participation in kindness activities and more compassionate language being used in everyday interactions. When students begin referencing the quotes or visuals in real life, we’ll know the decor is doing its job.
