Walking Our Way to Healthy Habits

My students need 4 digital pedometers, 2 child-sized stethoscopes, 2 nutrition e-books, and a Read and Comprehend activity set to learn about fitness and nutrition.

My Students

Fitness and Nutrition are key components of living a healthy life. Learning healthy habits now will help today's children become tomorrow's healthy adults.

My students are phenomenal!

They come from a wide variety of backgrounds and have unique learning styles. Some have special needs, others are gifted learners. We have military dependents, children belonging to families speaking languages other than English, and children with parents from other countries in our classroom community. We love the diversity that makes our classroom family portrait so wonderfully beautiful. My students are smart, creative, and kind. It only takes a moment after meeting them to realize these children are ready to achieve great things!

My Project

As we are working toward a goal of being more physically active, the pedometers requested will allow my students to measure and monitor their levels of activity. The stethoscopes will help my students hear and compare their heart rates at rest and after an activity. Can't you just imagine how meaningful that will be for them? The e-books, Nutrition and Discover! Nutrition and Health will reinforce the relationship between a healthy diet and overall wellness while improving nonfiction reading skills. Additionally, the Read and Comprehend Science Activity Folders will provide my students with interactive learning experiences that will strengthen their understanding of the importance of good nutrition, developing healthy habits, and how the human body defends itself against illnesses.
