Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students are from a vibrant region in the state of Florida that takes pride in its rich, Latino cultural heritage. Because of this, our population is made up of many English Language Learners. It is up to us to make sure they get the best education they deserve. My students are young, ambitious and curious. They work together as a team to achieve common goals. They are supportive of their classmates and celebrate the successes of their peers. They are a hardworking group of students who display excitement and enthusiasm toward learning.

Our school is a Title I Renaissance school. The majority of our students are from low-income families, which is reflected by our 91% free or reduced-price lunch status. Although my kids face socioeconomic challenges, they come to school every day willing to learn. My greatest satisfaction is when I see students achieve at their highest potential because we believed in them and now I am asking for you to believe in them by supporting this project.
My Project
These materials will make a huge difference in our school's safety. Currently, we have walkie-talkies that do not charge all the way and are not very loud. They are broken and old and it's difficult to hear safety announcements. Students and teachers use the walkie-talkies to call names at dismissal and right now we are having difficulties with using our current ones.
We need these walkie-talkies for the safety of students and staff.
We would love to have working walkie-talkies that would make dismissal and our school day safer for students and staff. The Safety Patrol Students can also use these walkie-talkies when they are picked to help communicate to adults and staff members.
