My Students

With being a co-teacher, we make sure our fourth grade inclusion classroom is like a family. Being that we are a community school, our room is filled with students from a variety of backgrounds, cultures, and diverse homes.

We know that students' needs vary, and being able to give them what they need in my classroom is so important to us and to their success.

They have a variety of learning tools in our classroom from flexible seating to small groups led by teachers and also led by their peers. We make sure our students feel safe by growing and learning with each other and knowing it's okay to make mistakes and to continue to have a growth mindset when facing difficult challenges academically or socially.

My Project

After reading the book "A Long Walk to Water", students will be doing a service learning project about drinking water for the world and the country. Service learning is a way students are actively participating in researching and understanding the process so they can gain a deeper connection between their community and society. They will learn how to develop as leaders who take initiative, solve problems, work as a team and demonstrate their abilities while helping others. With all these books about the water cycle, drinking water and refugees, we hope this will help the students be able to do research and gain a better understanding of these concepts. These books will give the students information to continue a project they will create as a class.

They will be working as a classroom to do a service learning project for our country and world dealing with drinking water.

With all of these new books, our students will be able to choose from a variety of books that will help them research and have a better understanding of the water cycle, drinking water and refugees. ​They will work together as a class to come up with ideas for a project to help others out.
