My Students

Third grade is a challenging year for students. The year is full of rigorous academics and standardized testing. My students are ready for the challenge and I want to make sure they have the tools they need to be successful. My students walk into our classroom every day full of life and ready to learn. They are curious about the world, dreamers, thinkers, talkers, and questioners. We have a variety of abilities, ethnicities, and economic backgrounds. They are amazing students and I want them to believe in themselves and each other.

My Project

Before diving deep into the curriculum first thing in the mornings, let's wake up young minds! This year, our alternative morning work will promote critical 21st century skills, such as teamwork and collaboration. I want mornings to be a time where students are excited to come into class.

I want students doing activities that involve collaboration, strategy, creativity, rigor, problem-solving, and critical thinking.

Students will be using IQ Challenge Sets, IQ Toys, Tetris Puzzles, Brain Flakes, the Osmo, and other materials for morning work. These materials will allow students to tap into that creative, right brain thinking, as well as, address various learning styles. These morning choices will give students the opportunity to work with their peers, while doing something they enjoy.
