Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite these challenges, I look to provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences. From the minute they walk through the door of my classroom I focus on their potential growth.
My students are creative, clever and want to learn!
I may not be able to control their home lives, however, I can certainly control their experience during the school day by creating a positive, safe environment where they will want to continue to learn and succeed!
My Project
From the moment my students step into the classroom at 8:40 in the morning they begin practicing skills that are necessary for them to be successful. One of these important skills is fine motor. Having fine motor skills allows my students to hold a pencil correctly, use a crayon correctly, as well as hold small objects when necessary.
These supplies, such as therapy putty, play doh, links, and scissors will allow my students to practice these skills from the moment they walk into class.
While they will not only be practicing their fine motor skills, but they will put this to practice to continue their knowledge with numbers, letters, shapes, and colors.
Students will use these materials when they get to school in the morning so practice their fine motor skills as well as academics, such as, putting numbers in order, letters in order, and counting. These tools will help students more easily hold a pencil as well as any other small tool.
