My Students
As a teacher at a low-income/high poverty school, my students often face challenges not only academically but socially, emotionally, and physically. Often times their safe haven is our school. Most of our students have not been outside of their neighborhood but when they enter our doors we challenge them to open their minds and explore their talents in the classroom and we ask them to trust us on this magical journey of education each and every day.
“Life is a continuous learning process.
Each day presents an opportunity for learning.” - Laila Gifty Akita
My Project
The movie Black Panther has opened the eyes of millions of people around the world and has allowed them to see the various tribes, cultures, and traditions that was adopted from real African tribes for the movie.
It is through this novel that my students will study those tribes that are portrayed in the novel and movie and compare them to the actual tribes and culture they are to represent.
This project will make a difference in my students learning by allowing them to see through research that Africa is a diverse set of nations with beautiful cities and citizens.
