Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach a Kinder, 1st and 2nd grade Special Needs class at a Title I school with a majority of English learners.

I have my own laptop and was donated an LCD projector. Both have been a tremendous addition to my class. I can share the contents of my computer (PowerPoints etc) and display the internet to the whole class at one time. The visual element is key to Special Needs students. But so is spontaneity and immediacy; taking advantage of those teachable moments.

We know that seeing is believing and what would really help us now would be the ability to hook up a document camera to our laptop and projector. This would allow us to be spontaneous and immediate. No more waiting to make copies, scan something in or make a PowerPoint. A couple of linking cubes or letter tiles and we'll have an instant demonstration in Math, Language Arts... you name it.

With your help we can fulfill our tech needs. An Elmo will allow us to see it all, see it now, see it all together. Every book will be a Big Book, any picture, any paper, anything can be shown nice and large.
