This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
Please donate to my class. I reach Pre-K and my students sometimes make a mess and we need to clean it up. We have a vacuum in our class but it stops picking up trash. We need a new vacuum to keep our room clean.
Cleaning and household chores are such essential life skills that all students need to learn.
I will have my students draw a picture to illustrate each page in our classroom book "How to use a Vacuum Book ". We will take pictures of the student doing each step and have them paste them into the printed book, have students share their books to the whole class or to a small group, use as a visual aid while students clean, etc.
The vacuum will be a student's job in the classroom. Giving the students jobs in the classroom will help with their independence as well as teaching the students to work with others.
I will make clean-up a rewarding experience and I will give my preschoolers lots of praise for a job well attempted or well done. I am so excited and can't wait until I can use our new vacuum.
