This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our class is like our home away from home. When our class is clean and our rug is vacuumed, our space feels more inviting, comfortable, and allows for creativity to flow. Flexible seating at a clean rug, allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. During independent work times they choose a location in the classroom that works for them, usually this is the rug.
Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them.
I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given a choice in their seating. A clean and regularly vacuumed rug helps seating be a top priority in our class. They almost always make good choices about where they sit on the rug, they are more engaged in their learning. A clean rug equals a happy class.
I have seen how choice can positively affect my students work and demeanor and hope that having a clean space will give room for additional options for seating and help us grow even more!
