My Students

Bonneville Academy is a platinum designated STEM school in Tooele, UT. My students love electronics, engineering, and future technologies. Also, like most middle school students they love to socialize and hang out together. Unfortunately, COVID-19 restrictions have negatively impacted their opportunities for academic and social development.

One major future trend that we are tracking is the gamification of the economy (references below).

In addition, our students were the first officially sanctioned esports team in Utah (ITeam USA welcomes the first middle school, Bonneville Academy Stansbury Utah -- iTEAM USA | PRLog). The global video game market is valued at 173 billion and is growing rapidly. Regardless of how you feel about video games, this industry and the jobs associated with it are valuable and growing.

My Project

VR and Esports are amazing vehicles for education. The metaverse will be the next iteration of the internet. These VR headsets will give students an opportunity to enter the internet. Access to VR headsets will help students who struggle with traditional assignments (like essays) to engage with the material in new ways. In addition, students will develop academic and social skills that will benefit them throughout their lives. Our students enjoy participating and interacting with cutting edge technologies. In my opinion, my class is likely to develop practices and procedures, with regards to VR, that will set the standard for VR education and be beneficial to teachers and students across the country.
