My Students
Do you remember having a dream? All of my 1st grades have a dream...to be a doctor, a teacher, a policeman. In order to achieve our dreams we need informational books to help us learn about the world. Helping us get books for our classroom will set us on the path our dreams.
Our class is made up of 28 smart, funny, inquisitive 1st graders.
We love to read and spend 100 minutes a day voraciously reading. The majority of our books are fiction. When a new informational book about animals or the planets shows up it is immediately the most popular book. The Common Core stresses the importance of being able to understand informational text.
My Project
Research shows that 90% of the reading we do in our careers is informational. These books will help us learn and understand our world. Having a class set of books, that are leveled for a variety of readers, will help us continue to be voracious readers. We will be able to continue to dream about our future.
