My Students
The population my school serves is mostly minority students comprised of 70% Black Non-Hispanic (a vast majority of these are of Haitian-Creole descent), 22% Hispanic, 5% White Non-Hispanic, and 3% Asian/Indian/Multiracial.
The school as a whole is classified as a Title I school, which is a school with a high percentage of children from low-income families, to help ensure that all children meet challenging state academic standards.
We are designated as a STEM school and the students I personally teach are represented in our STEM-based magnet program.
My Project
I'm asking for assistance with obtaining uniform shorts for my girls volleyball team since ours are old and worn. We've worn the current ones for the last five years and they are showing their maturity. The seams are running in some, while others are faded in color.
We're beginning a boys and girls track and field team from scratch and need accompanying equipment.
I have requested some starting blocks and relay batons for our startup team.
We also need basketballs for our boys basketball teams. The balls we currently own are in need of replacement. There are some that aren't holding air.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
