Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a developing volleyball program in Lake County, we are committed to giving our players the best resources and opportunities possible to compete with other programs in Lake County. As a team, our players have the same love for the game, but not always the same resources as their competition.
Our players are a very diverse group, including all demographic and socioeconomic categories.
Our girls and boys are all very outgoing and passionate about their communities and culture, and work extremely hard to earn everything they have. Our school is located in a low-income community that has at-risk tendencies associated with poverty. Our school is continuing to improve with quality teachers, more prepared students, and an ambition to succeed.
My Project
We will use the materials that are requested in several ways. In volleyball practice, these materials will help our athletes improve their ability to pass, block, and hit. Athletes can break out into smaller groups and use the passing tool to improve, while other athletes can be using the hitting and blocking tools without having to have peers on the other side of them. All of these tools will help my athletes prepare individually or in a small group setting, compared to a whole group.
Donations to this project will improve my classroom greatly.
With the addition of these resources, my athletes will be better prepared for competition they face in their conference, and they will gain the confidence to improve at volleyball. I realize most of my students will not have the opportunity to play volleyball at a collegiate level, so I want to make the opportunity they have in High School the most memorable and beneficial as possible.
