This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I have a classroom of diverse students with many creative ideas. Many are athletes and are great troubleshooters and critical thinkers. However, with limited materials, their skills and their athletic abilities are stuck on paper and in some cases in their heads. Many of my students do not have the resources necessary to perfect their craft.
Even though resources are low, all are eager to learn everything they can while having fun!
Children are our future! Helping them to "think outside the box" give them that extra push toward brighter futures and a more successful tomorrow!
My Project
Our Varsity and Junior Varsity teams struggle with some of the mechanics of volleyball. Many have played the game and are great players; however, most find blocking and hitting a difficult task. I would like to have a quad blocking trainer, net zoning trainer, and some drill cards to help my girls enhance their blocking technique, setting, and serving skills. The trainer will aid in helping them become more comfortable with playing front row.
Having the proper training equipment helps to mimic a real-game experience.
Additionally, teaching the girls how to set up and properly store our nets will improve the life of the item. With the donation of these supplies provided by this grant, my students will be able to perfect their individual volleyball skills.
