Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This August, I will be teaching students that are bright, creative, and enthusiastic learners with moderate to severe disabilities, including autism, intellectual disabilities, and multiple impairments. My classroom is a self-contained special education setting where we will focus on functional academics, communication, and life skills. Many of my students are nonverbal and rely on visual supports, sensory tools, and adaptive equipment to participate meaningfully in their education. I am requesting equipment such as adaptive seating, communication boards, and hands-on learning equipment to create a more inclusive and supportive environment.

These resources will help students regulate their sensory needs, increase engagement during lessons, and promote independence in daily routines.
