Students earn \"bonus bucks\" for meeting expectations, showing leadership, and demonstrating academic effort. One specific moment that stood out was during our weekly store day—students were so excited to see the new items that they worked together to count their bonus bucks, plan what they wanted to purchase, and even calculate how much they needed to save for future items. It became both an engaging reward and a meaningful math-in-action experience.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new materials added to the classroom store, their faces lit up. Many gathered around the display, pointing out the items they hoped to save up for. Their excitement immediately boosted participation and motivated them to earn more bonus bucks. The energy in the room was incredible—students were buzzing with plans, strategies, and genuine enthusiasm about working toward the rewards.\r\n\r\nOur next steps involve continuing to strengthen our classroom's economy system. Students are now keeping track of their earnings more independently and even setting savings goals. We'll also be integrating more financial-literacy mini-lessons—such as budgeting and making responsible choices—using the classroom store as a practical, hands-on learning tool. The new resources have allowed us to turn a simple reward system into an ongoing project that builds real-world skills while keeping students motivated and engaged.","fullyFundedDate":1756691158457,"projectUrl":"project/empowering-financial-minds-classroom-in/9665503/","projectTitle":"Empowering Financial Minds: Classroom Incentives to Teach Financial Literacy","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Valenzuela","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8679104_orig.jpg?crop=846,846,x1985,y1461&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1700721662554","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8679104"},{"teacherId":10065978,"projectId":9437764,"letterContent":"At the beginning of the school year, the students immediately noticed all the new additions to our library. They commented on how much brighter and more welcoming the space looked with the new carpets, lighting, and signage. The changes instantly created a sense of excitement and curiosity. The students love exploring the updated environment and often mention how it feels like a brand-new library made just for them. The new doorbell has also been a wonderful addition—it helps keep everyone on track without the need to raise voices across the room. Now, when the bell rings, students know it's time to wrap up their activities and line up, which keeps our transitions smooth and calm.\r\n\r\nOne of the biggest hits has been the sound tracker. Students are fascinated by how it changes colors based on the noise level in the library. When it moves toward red, they know it's a signal to lower their voices. It has become a fun and effective tool for teaching self-regulation and respect for shared spaces. And, of course, the new TV has completely transformed how I can teach and engage students. I now use it for library lessons, to share read-alouds, and even to play calming background music or videos that help set a peaceful tone for reading time.\r\n\r\nThe new materials we received—such as book-mending supplies, filing systems, and my new rolling stool—have also made a huge impact on the library's day-to-day operations. These tools help me stay organized, manage my time efficiently, and keep the library running smoothly. Teachers, staff members, and even district supervisors have all commented on how wonderful the updates look and feel. Most importantly, the students truly feel like they are part of something special. They are always excited to visit the library, explore books, and spend time in a space that inspires them to read and learn. That renewed excitement and love for reading was the heart of this project—and thanks to our donors, it has become a reality.","fullyFundedDate":1754332058832,"projectUrl":"project/a-fresh-chapter-for-our-library/9437764/","projectTitle":"A Fresh Chapter For Our Library!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Couch","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10065978_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y386&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1751080755110","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10065978"},{"teacherId":8637688,"projectId":9528887,"letterContent":"My students and I want to sincerely thank you for your generous donation. These simple tools have given my students a chance to create, imagine, and discover new parts of themselves each day.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, I've been able to weave art into our daily lessons. A math lesson becomes more exciting when students paint patterns or create shapes with paper cutouts. Even students who are sometimes hesitant in traditional lessons light up when given a paintbrush or a piece of paper. Setting up the incubator was a breeze. I explained to our students how the incubator works and how it would replace the mother hen. We spent 21 days patiently waiting for our eggs to grow, develop, and hatch. Students helped me place 28 eggs inside the incubator. I explained to them how the incubator works and how long the hatching process would be. We read daily sections from the \"Let's Hatch Chicks!\" book. We planned for our chicks to hatch on a Wednesday. The Monday before we unpacked the brooding box and students helped me set it up. On Tuesday we got our first peep!! Everybody was extremely excited to see how little by little the chick made its way out. When we came to school on Wednesday we had 3 chicks...by the end of the day we had 8! Students were eager to help me transfer the chicks from the incubator to the brooding box. We lined up and had a chance to hold the chicks one at a time until they were placed in the brooding box. \r\n\r\nWe kept the chicks in our classroom for 2 weeks. During this time, students helped me keep the brooding box clean, and helped me feed the chicks. We took turns taking the chicks out and playing with them. This opportunity allowed students to be thinkers and researchers. They developed a sense or responsibility and care. Students (with parent permission) got to pick a chick to take home! This has been an amazing experience and I can't wait to do it again next school year.","fullyFundedDate":1736798191100,"projectUrl":"project/cheep-cheep-horray-help-dli-kinder-ha/9048603/","projectTitle":"Cheep, Cheep, Horray!
