Voices That Matter: Empowering Third Graders Through Diverse Stories
Help me give my students powerful books that reflect diverse voices and promote social justice, along with art supplies for self-portraits and personal writing activities.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Help me provide my third-grade students with powerful, diverse books that reflect their identities and promote racial and social justice. As learners in a Title 1 school, my students deserve access to literature that celebrates who they are, builds empathy, and encourages understanding of the world around them. These texts will allow us to explore age-appropriate themes of fairness, inclusion, and respect while inspiring meaningful conversations.
Representation matters-when students see themselves and others in books, they feel valued.
Alongside these books, students will engage in self-portraits and personal writing to further explore identity and expression. These resources will help create a joyful, inclusive learning environment where every child is empowered to grow academically and personally. With your support, we’ll nurture thoughtful readers, compassionate citizens, and proud storytellers-one book, one project, one voice at a time.
