This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from humble, working-class, social-economic backgrounds and most lack access to the most current technological tools for learning. In order to be competitive in a global economy, my students need both exposure and experience with learning resources which can enrich their minds and shift their thinking to a twenty-first century perspective.

My students need to know that the world is larger than their local area and that they can reach around the world by reading and gain inspiration for writing through immersion with Young Adult literature from diverse authors.

My students need a broadened vision of their place in the world to prepare them for a future where they can thrive academically and intellectually.

My Project

It is incredible what you can learn from a story! This collection of anthologies will be used to engage reluctant readers in literature that is high interest and deals with themes that are so critically important to discuss with teens.

These collections of short stories will offer a bridge to discussions and questions about growing up, finding your identity, accepting others who are different, having empathy and making good choices-all while nurturing young readers.

We will read these texts school wide and conduct numerous projects around the tales, which will help build a more cohesive and supportive school climate and culture.
