Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

At our school, once a year, we have a day called Voice, Choice and Joy Day! It is a day where every staff member creates a fun class and students get to choose which activities they participate in! It is a celebration of voice, choice and joy!

Giving students a voice in choosing their activities for that day allows them to feel a sense of ownership over their education, while providing them with the freedom to make choices.

By giving students the opportunity to voice their interests and make choices, we are fostering a sense of excitement and anticipation for the activities. Seeing their preferences reflected in the schedule and being able to actively participate in classes, it ,will bring them joy and enthusiasm for learning.

These activities are designed to build community. All of these supplies will be used in games that the kids will play learning how to work together, communicate effectively, and build excitement surrounding school. Each game that these students will play are designed to build a culture where learning is fun and school is a place they want to be. These supplies will enable the students to work together as a team to solve problems and challenges. They will be playing games such as relay races, building towers and solving puzzles. All of these supplies will be used during these games.

Overall, the VOICE-CHOICE-JOY day not only empowers students but also creates a positive and inclusive learning environment where everyone feels valued and motivated to participate. It's a wonderful way to promote student engagement, agency, and ultimately, joy in the learning process.
