Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school serves students from various underprivileged and diverse neighborhoods in Chicago, IL. Our kids are striving to fill skills gaps and to reach goals on their road to college and career readiness.
Students are engaging in personalized, project-based and cooperative learning.
My students are overcoming challenges to become effective urban citizens, and I work with each student individually to help them communicate what their personal academic goals and begin visualizing and planning for high school, college, career and success.
My Project
Our current classroom speaker is old and outdated. My students are constantly saying that they are unable to hear the audio being played. Further, we have an opportunity to learn the responsible use of voice assistance as an educational resource and enable social-emotional learning strategies such as, "Ask my class..."
The goal of this project is to enable every child in our classroom to clearly hear all the speech components of audio books, no matter where they are seated.
Listening and speaking is the primary mode of learning in the classroom. My students deserve a good, quality, voice assistant, enabled speaker to be a part of 21st century learning. In addition my teaching will increase in efficacy. The audio from this speaker will help students overcome adverse classroom conditions and provide students with enhanced speech recognition; and therefore, a much improved opportunity to learn.
