This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our school is located in a rural, quiet community. Students are excited to come to school to explore and learn new strategies.
The school also has a high population of children living in poverty.
All the children at the school are very special and loved so much!
My Project
The materials requested will be used to help promote a stronger understanding of how to build a better vocabulary throughout our school. Our students often score low on the vocabulary section of state testing. Vocabulary is introduced and discussed daily, but there isn't any retention.
As the reading specialist, I would like to create vocabulary walls throughout the halls of our school with bulletin board paper, ink, and a staple gun.
Words will be displayed with the meaning, synonyms and antonyms. Making learning a fun event is what KJHS is all about. The students always enjoy when they see what they learned in the classroom manifest throughout other parts of their lives.
DonorsChoose is the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
As a teacher-founded nonprofit, we're trusted by thousands of teachers and supporters across the country. This classroom request for funding was created by Mrs. Tonya Brown-Hutchins and reviewed by the DonorsChoose team.
