My students come to class every day, full of life and ready to learn! We work together as a class to encourage a welcoming and safe environment that helps to encourage a strong classroom community. Students in our class come from many different backgrounds, and each of them faces unique challenges every day.
I plan and prepare lessons for my students that will stimulate their minds and encourage them to wonder about the world around them.
Working in Utah presents an interesting challenge to our classroom. School districts in Utah are among the most underfunded schools per student in the nation. Despite this, we are able to find fun and exciting ways to expand our horizons.
My Project
My students have been working hard to learn how to utilize a dictionary to help them not only understand the words they read but also, to learn how to spell the words they use in their writing. By getting dictionaries in my classroom students will be able to use the skills they have built to help them become better readers and better writers. Some of our in class assignments ask students to use a dictionary to determine the meaning of student selected vocabulary, making access to a dictionary a necessity.
I also believe that the ability to read is the greatest equalizer in life.
All students deserve the opportunity to have access to a wide selection of books that keep them engaged. The books I have selected are classics in the classroom and will be loved by my students this year, as well as by students for years to come.
