My Students

My students are second and third graders in a multi-age classroom. The multi-age experience provides students with a unique learning opportunity. In their second year, they become mentors to the younger students. They are inquisitive, creative, independent thinkers with a thirst for knowledge.

My school is located in a suburban South Florida community.

The population of my school has changed over the past several years. We now have a larger percentage of students that are receiving free or reduced-price lunch, and lacking much of the background knowledge needed. However, they are always looking for new and creative ways to challenge how they think and problem-solve.

My Project

Vocabulary Spelling City is a great tool to engage students with spelling and vocabulary in creative and interactive ways. Students can create their own vocabulary and spelling lists, and play games to reinforce instruction.

Students can use Vocabulary Spelling City to help keep up, catch up, or stay ahead!

Vocabulary Spelling City helps teachers focus on students individual progress, not just testing. The program differentiates vocabulary, phonics and spelling instruction, and is a perfect fit for Literacy Centers. The word lists in Vocabulary Spelling City are curriculum and standards aligned. The program can be accessed at school or home, which provides more flexibility for students, and promotes parental involvement.
