Our students love music. They are passionate about music and music-making. Music is what keeps them motivated to come to school. They excel in music despite our school being situated in the midst of five federal housing projects.
Most, if not all, of our students come from homes of highest poverty.
Our school has a 70% highly disadvantaged rate.
Beautiful music comes out of our orchestra room. Our students play with great passion. Music is what they excel at. Our students would never have been able to play in an orchestra were it not for the school orchestra program.
My Project
The new Viola will be used to play in our school orchestra. Students who play the new viola will play a varied repertoire of rich orchestral music. They will be able to further their music education experience to make beautiful music.
Many, if not all, of our students would be unable to play the Viola due to their socio-economic status.
For many, playing in an orchestra is something they could never have imagined, but now has become a reality.
Playing the viola will provide a rich aesthetic experience and will teach students important life skills such as team work, perseverance, responsibility, and more. These skills will enrich their lives for a life-time.
