Vital Tools for Vital Signs: Supporting Student Health

My Project

As the school nurse, I care for a diverse group of students with a wide range of health needs—from daily management of chronic conditions like asthma and diabetes to unexpected illnesses and injuries that arise during the school day. Many of our students come from low-income households, and for some, the care they receive in the school clinic is the only consistent health support they have. My goal is to ensure every student receives prompt, accurate care so they can return to class safely and with confidence.

To provide effective care, it’s essential to have dependable tools to check students' vital signs.

Unfortunately, many of the tools in our school clinic are either missing or no longer reliable. Inaccurate or outdated equipment can lead to delayed or improper care, which puts students at risk.

With your support, I am requesting updated and dependable medical tools, such as digital thermometers, pulse oximeters, and blood pressure monitors, so I can properly assess students when they are feeling unwell. These items will allow me to monitor symptoms more accurately, detect potential health concerns, and act quickly when students need attention.
