Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Help students with autism reach their full potential!! Students with autism are very visual and tactile learners! By engaging them in technology and using a lot of visuals and manipulatives these students can participate and excel in the learning process!

I have 10 pre-K students with autism, 9 boys and 1 girl.

They attend a public elementary school in a separate class. They are placed in my class to help them become ready for a regular kindergarten class, if possible. By having the resources to provide the best early intervention for these students I can help prepare them to participate with general education peers by the time they are ready for kindergarten!

My Project

By having these resources I can give my students the opportunity to engage in activities in many different ways. For example with a story I can read it to them, they can have puppets to act out the story, and felt characters to retell the story. I could then use the tablet to find the story for them to listen to and perhaps play a game relating to the story. By allowing them many different ways to show understanding I provide them ways to show me what they can do and how much they are learning.

This project is so important because my classroom is my students first school experience and its their opportunity to develop and grow.

With these materials I can provide the best early intervention and it could be the difference in that child succeeding in the general education setting or not!!
