My 1st graders are fun loving, visually stimulated, and are overall amazing individuals. My students have shown a great interest in reading and enjoy literacy, creating artistic projects, and collaborating while learning with their peers. Due to the class curriculum, students are being asked to interact with various groups such as independent, small, and whole class groups. They will be asked to engage, create, discuss, and learn in the following groups throughout the school year. These awesome first graders would truly appreciate an opportunity to learn collaboratively in an environment that would support their learning experiences throughout the school year. An environment that depicts a plethora of diverse reading text along with other resources would be a great way to bring their work visually alive. It is challenging to provide students with the needed environment due to very limited materials and resources; however, with the assistance they will benefit immensely!
My Project
I will use the materials requested to support students’ thinking in a visual and creative way. The selected text will help students tap into their creativity and spark their independent and group project task. As for the printer, this will allow students to show their thinking visibly. The students will use these materials in various content areas. It will primarily be used in the class, however, it will support in sending materials home for home and school connections which are vital in keeping parents abreast of our class curriculum.
