I need virtual professional development for the Visualizing and Verbalizing curriculum to help my students with special needs to learn to read.

My Project

Many of my students struggle with understanding and remembering what they read. When strong readers read a new story, they make a movie in their mind of what they are reading. Then they are able to answer questions easily from big picture they've created.

Weak readers do not know how to visualize what they are reading.

They simply read the words and move on. They struggle to answer questions because they do not have the big picture of what happened in the text. For students with reading disabilities, this needs to be explicitly taught.

The Visualizing and Verbalizing curriculum was created to meet this need. However, my school district will not pay for the virtual professional development I so desperately need to implement this with my students. I need your help! With your donation, we can get this intervention running in my classroom in no time! Every dollar counts!
