Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Math is so much fun but can be difficult for students to make sense of if they can "see" the math. The majority of my students are English language learners, and newcomers. Math concepts can be a struggle for them. When learning about fractions, it is hard to make sense of what a fractions is, how to compare it with other fractions and how to determine equivalent fractions. Students start to feel about themselves. They need a visual tool to help them make these connections and build their confidence.

Using Fraction cubes, as a visual aide in my math classroom, will support my students learning by helping them actually 'see' the information that is presented when teaching fractions.

With your support, my students will feel more confident, and be able to apply their new understanding of fractions to calculate decimals, and percent. They will use this knowledge for many years to come.
