Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are creative, thoughtful and full of questions! They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions! They come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically. Truly, they are my inspiration!
My school is an inner-city low-income school in Jackson Heights Queens.
For many, school is the only place where they have a space to learn and play.
Each child in my classroom absolutely loves learning, although the method and environment in which they learn best vary greatly. We incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and alternative seating and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are! They are truly an incredible group, and I am so lucky and thankful to have a new group of learners that are excited and ready to learn each day.
My Project
My students need a space for them to be creative and innovate. That is why our new Maker Space is so important. It will be a space for them to become problem solvers, inventors, scientists and engineers.
A 3D Printer will allow them to visualize what they are learning about in ELA, Social Studies, and Science!
By donating to this project, you will be giving a 21st century tool to students who would never have access to be at the cutting edge of education.
The MakerBot 3D printer will enhance the engineering experience by giving the students the opportunity to design and print structures that they are learning about and even engage in design challenges that allow them to solve real work problems. Engaging the students in the engineering process will benefit them in all areas of learning.
