This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are special because they are curious, excited, and dedicated learners. Since coming to work in a school in rural Alabama, my students constantly amaze me with their abilities! I often say to people, “These kids can do anything!” And truly, they can! This school year has been eye-opening, in that I am looking for a dynamic way to help students do their best work, expand their global perspective, learn tolerance and empathy, and be proud of their hard work. If I have learned anything in my years of being in education, I know in my heart that all students learn in unique ways-celebrating the individual uniqueness of each person is vital in today’s society. And it is the job of a team- students, teachers, parents and stakeholders to embrace that objective and help our students grow.
My Project
Martin Luther King Jr. once said "We are not makers of History. We are made BY history." In order for students to have a great understanding of the visual aspects of history, I would like to have a television on which they can see history that has happened before their very eyes. Sometimes, a visual image of film can change a life! Whether it is a picture, a primary source, or a documentary, all these visuals have an impact on students' learning. After all, we live in an age of visual learners. After all, as MLK said, we are made BY history! Help me make this history come to life!
