My Project

The students in my classroom require a variety of communication tools throughout the day to be successful. We use pictures to display our daily schedule so they know their routine or the next activity for them. Visual supports allow for the teachers to communicate non-verbally with our learners and it encourages them to communicate with us. The variety of visuals will help to reflect the variety of learners in my classroom. The pictures are clear and easy to understand the direction.

Another visual support in my room is the pivotal use of timers in my classroom.

We use timers to start and stop our breaks. Timers can indicate to learners when their time for completing work is coming to an end. I have learners that enjoy watching time lapse on a variety of timers, they find it calming when they need to regulate their emotions.

Visual supports are essential for the well-being and success in my classroom. Whether the support comes in the use of picture cards of their daily schedule, directions, or their emotions every student deserves a way to communicate with others. The timers we utilize throughout the day allow for break times to start and stop. The timers also serve as a tool a student can use to regulate their emotions and return to learning.
