Visual Specimens for Special Ed Science Class

My students need hands-on materials, including specimens, a sink-or-float tank and a classifying mat, to explore their world and develop the use of their senses.

FULLY FUNDED! Mr. Mehring's classroom raised $414

This project is fully funded

I want to bring a part of the real world inside my classroom! I teach 12 K-2 students with language delays, half of whom are on the autism spectrum.

My students are special needs students who learn through visual presentations and hands-on practice. They enjoy learning about plants, animals and the world around them. I want to bring more of the world into my classroom to stimulate their communication, language and critical thinking skills.

These students like to view and sort biological and physical specimens. I need resources like specimens, a sink-or-float tank and a specimen-sorting mat to connect these urban students with their natural world -- and place these resources in a permanent science center in our classroom.

Your financial generosity will make it possible to create a science corner in my classroom for these young students who are learning to use their senses and emerging language skills to comprehend their environment.
