I wish I could send videos of how each student reacted to the particular activity/item that catered most to their specific interest - but you'll just have to take my word for it. Having been in this classroom for seven years now, we were in desperate need of some new and updated items. Having access to fidget toys, sensory stepping stones, toys, kinetic sand, and so much more, has allowed us to engage students using items that they love and are interested in! \r\nThe sensory items you helped fund have allowed us to take needed sensory breaks, accommodate specific sensory diets throughout the day, provide engaging and meaningful activities during rainy day recesses inside, and have brought so much joy to the classroom. Its so much more fun doing these things with new items instead of trying to recycle the same, out of date materials we've had in my room for so long!\r\nI feel like having the materials you helped provide has contributed to facilitating a foundation of support and fun in my classroom, which will help carry us through the rest of the year! \r\nWe are currently really working on helping students recognize and express when they need a break (to use the sensory materials). We want to help my students to express their emotions and needs in a clear and appropriate way, whatever that means for each individual student. \r\nI am so grateful to all of you that contributed and truly touched by how generous all of you were.","fullyFundedDate":1726919562380,"projectUrl":"project/sensory-items-for-a-class-that-deserves/8800007/","projectTitle":"Sensory Items for A Class That Deserves Some Love!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Kimberly","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9760096_orig.jpg?crop=480,480,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1726685904735","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9760096"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_4426","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":270,"numTeachers":12,"percentFrplEligible":30,"percentAsian":28,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":37,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":10,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"22.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":83.3,"schoolId":4426,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about George Peabody Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"George Peabody Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/san-francisco-unified-school-district/george-peabody-elementary-school/4426"}
