This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Graphic novels are a fun and helpful way for 3rd graders to get better at reading. They are books that tell a story using both pictures and words. This makes it easier for kids to understand what’s happening because they can see it as well as read it. For kids who might find reading long books a little hard, graphic novels help them stay interested because there aren’t as many words on each page, and the pictures help explain the story.
Third graders really enjoy graphic novels because they are exciting to read.
The colorful pictures and interesting characters make the stories come to life. Many graphic novels are about superheroes, adventure, or funny situations, which are things kids love. This makes reading feel more like fun and less like homework. When kids enjoy reading, they’re more likely to pick up books on their own and keep practicing their reading skills.
The pictures also help kids learn new words. If they don’t know a word, they can look at the pictures to help figure out what it means. This makes learning to read new words less frustrating. Graphic novels can also help with reading skills like understanding what happens first, next, and last in a story. The pictures show this clearly, so it’s easier for kids to follow along.
In short, graphic novels are a great way to help 3rd graders learn to read and enjoy it at the same time! They make stories easier to understand, help kids learn new words, and turn reading into something exciting and fun.
