Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a suburban/urban school in the east valley of a metro area. We have a diverse, majority Hispanic student body. We are tucked into a neighborhood that was formerly mostly affluent and white. As schools in our area have closed and neighborhood dynamics have shifted, our student body has become racially/ethnically, economically, and culturally diverse.

The lack of access to materials needed to be successful is a huge problem our students face daily.

Having technology and school supplies will go a long way in creating student buy-in and accountability for their work.

My Project

Having speakers we can watch the historical movies like they were intended to and hear the older documentaries. Having a few extra pair of headphones will help those who forget theirs, or need a pair for testing or independent study time. These tools will be a huge value to my history students and classroom. Students learn differently, and with these tools my visual and auditorial learners will have their needs met. With speakers and headphones we can address the needs of those students who will be able to grasp a concept, and hopefully have the light bulb of learning go off becasue of the quality of the presentation.
