Visual Learning Engaged!

Help me give my students a document camera to be able to do guided doodle notes as a class and large post its to create anchor charts to use in the class to help visual learners be successful.

My Students

My students range in ability from special needs and ELL to gifted. I teach an array of content within the ELA sphere. We do weekly grammar mentor sentences, work through novels each quarter, and focus primarily on using what we learn to increase our writing ability.

I am so excited to be teaching this year and working with my students to make them connect with writing and reading in a new way.

I am using a new curriculum that makes the content so much more interactive for the student and makes it come alive for them. It is incredible to see those "Aha!" moments in my students as they realize they really can grasp the concepts and utilize them on their own.

My hope is this year allows my students to make significant gains and increase their scores overall in reading and writing.

My Project

I am using a new form of note taking I learned during a recent professional development meeting to engage my visual learners on a new level. This will also allow students multiple pathways for information recall and interaction on anchor charts and group work. I am so excited for the students to have a new outlet for knowledge gained in the classroom.

Visual learning will go to a whole new level with the tools provided in the project.

I will be able to use the anchor charts (Large post-it notes requested) around the room for walkabouts (students touring around the room and answering questions using existing anchor charts as reference). I will also be able to create and use doodle notes that will help students recall info in multiple ways and retain the content more readily to set them up for success. They will be able to follow along on my board as I use the document camera requested. This was they can copy these notes and add to them with their own creative sketches.

My hope is that this project will engage those learners that thrive in visual learning environments and help them to be successful for years to come.
