Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As we head into a new reading unit in our English Language Class I would like to project reading selections that both my English-speaking students and my English Learners students can enjoy and read as a whole group. Coming from a low-income community and teaching at a lower income equity school is not always the easiest since we don't always have a class set of books for everyone to use.

Having a high-quality projector with a speaker attached would allow me to project equity affirming books as well as be able to have readout louds for my English Learning students.

I can have textbooks as well as stories read out loud to those struggling students and be able to reach everyone as a whole versus having to run copies and give each student individual copies. Although copies sound like a great idea, teaching at a school where copies as well as resources are limited is not always the easiest. This projector will help eliminate copies and be more environmentally conscious as will be able to project the stories and go through them as a class together with all my students.

The way the projector would be used in my class with supporting my migrant and new in coming student population is going to be by being able to display in a bigger screen my bilingual lessons. Along with displaying my lessons we will also be reading books and viewing video lessons targeted to my incoming migrant students. Since we do not have a class set of Spanish books I would have to display the readings in a big screen so that we may read as a whole class.
